STEP 01Account

Create your free account

  1. Go to dash.cloudflare.com in your browser.
  2. Click Sign up and enter your email and a password.
  3. Confirm your email if Cloudflare sends a verification message.

Keep this email and password somewhere safe. This account controls your live website.

STEP 02Prepare

Put your file in a folder

Cloudflare needs your website file to sit inside a folder before you upload it. This takes about thirty seconds.

  1. On your Desktop, create a new folder (right-click, then New Folder).
  2. Name it exactly My Portfolio.
  3. Drag your index.html file inside that folder.

When you open My Portfolio, you should see index.html sitting inside it. That is correct.

STEP 03Navigate

Find the upload area

Back in your Cloudflare dashboard:

  1. In the left sidebar, click 🟠 Workers & Pages.
  2. Click Create application.
  3. Choose the Pages option, then click Upload assets.

Cloudflare sometimes renames this button to Get started or Use direct upload. They all lead to the same place. Pick whichever one lets you upload your own files, not the one that connects to GitHub.

STEP 04Deploy

Name it and deploy

  1. Name your project. This becomes your free web address, for example my-portfolio.pages.dev. Keep it short, lowercase, and use hyphens instead of spaces.
  2. Drag the whole My Portfolio folder from your desktop into the upload box (or click to browse and select it).
  3. Wait a few seconds for the upload to finish, then click 🚀 Deploy site.

STEP 05Verify

View your live website

  1. Click the link Cloudflare gives you (it ends in .pages.dev).
  2. Your website is now live on the internet for the whole world to see.

That is it. Your website is published and free forever. 🎉

First time? If the link does not load right away, wait two or three minutes and refresh. Brand new sites take a short moment to activate.

STEP 06Optional

Connect your own domain name

Want www.yourbusiness.com instead of the free .pages.dev link? You can connect one at no extra hosting cost.

  1. Open your project inside Workers & Pages.
  2. Click the 🔗 Custom domains tab.
  3. Click Set up a custom domain and type in the domain you own.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions. Cloudflare walks you through each part.

You will need to already own a domain (from a registrar such as Cloudflare, GoDaddy, or Namecheap). If you want a hand choosing or connecting one, just reach out.
